    This is the best explanation I have seen. The one that came closest devolved into an argument on why it is wrong to blame the Vikings. I don't care. They are all dead. I don't blame my ancestor for things like genetic defects. I am too busy feeling guilty over them profiting indirectly from slavery in the 17th century. Give me a break.

    I have it. I think my mother has it, but she won't let me look at her hands. Sometimes she says she has arthritis, but when pressed, she admits her doctor said it was something else. Then she says I am making everything up. My mother has always had her ownversion of reality.

    I had some blunt force trauma on the dorsal wrist 2 months ago. 2 bone bruises and a partial tfcc tear. But i have a lump a bit bigger than a grain off rice. It can move freely around in the entire wrist and up to the index finger. Its very hard and gets stuck on nerves etc. Had an mri but they didnt see the lump. What could it be?

    I haven't read all the comments but I am utterly surprised that there is little to no mention of God's miracle oil. CASTOR OIL. People, I am not selling anything, not getting paid, not benefiting from this post at all, but I MUST share my experiences with CASTOR OIL. I'm 70 years old, and have rather serious OA in my left thumb. My right thumb is starting to get painful. As a matter of fact, I have OA in my knees as well, most likely from being overweight for quite some years. Now I suffer the consequences from that. I have had Hyaluronic injections in my both knees and that went well for a couple of years. They are not covered by the health fund - of course. I asked it they could do the same for my painful thumb, but they said it didn't work and suggested surgery with a replacement metal joint. I said thanks but no thanks. Then about half a year ago, I discovered CASTOR OIL. For my hair growth basically. It works fine! Then I started doing more research on the oil and started using it for under eye bags, dry eyes, skin, all my joints, constipation and overall health. Folks: I wish I had found this years ago!!!! The pain in my knees is gone, I can walk comfortably since I rub the oil on my knees every evening. My dry eyes are healed: no more suffering from being an online information addict. Totally gone. No more useless , ridiculously expensive eyedrops from the pharmacy! (Here in Flanders they cost 2000€ per liter!!! and it's mainly water!) My eye bags have drastically diminished and would disappear if I could go to bed earlier than 2, 3 or 4 am.....🙄🙄🙄 So since 10 days I started rubbing the oil on my left thumb (the worst pain though I am right handed) every evening too. The joint will of course never regrow cartilage and the pain will be there, but trust me folks, the pain has gone down from 10 to 1 on the scale!!! I am even rubbing my right thumb, minimal pain, just to prevent it from stopping me doing my craft work. FOLKS: DO SOME RESEARCH, you don't even have to believe me, get informed and GO GET SOME CASTOR OIL!!!! You will be surprised as to the wonderful relief from all these ailments it will accomplish! I will never, ever be without Castor Oil again! Be sure to get the real pure stuff: unrefined,hexane free and virgin oil. DO NOT BUY oil that comes in plastic or clear bottles! This pure virgin oil - like ALL virgin oils! - has to be in a dark GLASS bottle. Good luck, people, and GOD BLESS!🙏

      You can’t cure osteoarthritis in any joint ie. You can’t reverse the changes seen on X-Ray. Symptoms can be managed and improved, often quite significantly. Surgery might be considered a cure in that it has the potential to take the pain away completely.

    in 63, I developed it in both hands , i noticed it about 6 months ago. I use a computer everyday for hours. No one in my family had it. Im not Viking. im European decent.

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK 7 днів тому

      Yes it’s very common throughout Europe, or in European descendants. Viking’s were very good at spreading their DNA around ! Unless you had a genetic test you would never know you had some. Your parents might have had the genetics but the disease just might not have presented within their lifetime. Some researchers think the gene is activated by trauma and so it might never occur despite having the genes. Others think the gene might activate at a ‘predetermined’ time. If that is aged 95, and you die aged 94, you would never know that you carried the gene. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the video. Can I ask a question? I'm a 30yo male, been drawing for the past 7 years, recently became a full-time artist. Last year I was diagnosed with OA in my right drawing hand. At first I didn't pay much attention to it, but this year it's started to be noticeable, the middle and ring finger grew into a ( bracket - shape along with very visible spurs in a few places (especially the joint I use to rely a pencil on). I've become really worried about my future. I know for a fact that it's hereditary, my grandma has it all over her hands, but she's in her 70s, not 30s! Would you say that it matters if I put pressure on that distal middle finger joint with a pencil? It's how you usually hold a pencil. The pressure is not big, but rather for long periods of time. Drawing sessions might take 4-6 hrs once or twice per day.

    You explained everything that my ortho did not (which is how I ended up finding you). THANK YOU!!! Two questions: 1) Could you please address what diet changes may be helpful and 2) whether or not wearing support can help slow or prevent further deterioration? Lastly a suggestion: I know someone that took too much ibuprofen (deliberately) and almost needed a liver transplant. Advil takes my pain away very effectively but I only use it when I cannot take it anymore and never for more than a few days. I think you should be more assertive about the dangers of abusing OTC medications.

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK 10 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment Denise. Much appreciated. To answer your questions, 1) There is very limited quality evidence to support dietary changes in osteoarthritis, other than the fact that a 'Mediterranean diet' seems to be beneficial. However I have addressed diet and supplements for OA in a separate video here ua-cam.com/video/5x-U0pJJnsk/v-deo.htmlsi=QWU-NpdQskY91kXx 2) Using a splint for the long term would theoretically slow the degenerative process but there is no clinical evidence to support this. 3) I agree re issues associated with OTC medicine abuse. I always advise patients to talk with their Dr / Pharmacist before using these meds and there are clear warnings on the package. If people choose to abuse these meds it is often a conscious choice and there is unfortunately little that can be done to stop them. Best wishes. Stephen.

    I agree with others commenting that this is the best plantar fasciitis video. I would also like to compliment on the bookshelf ends from the collectors edition of the Lord of the Rings films (I have them as well). After watching this, I do wonder if what I have, as a wannabe runner, is truly plantar fasciitis. The pain tends to be more towards the arch of the foot rather than the heel, and recently it seen to resolve within a day of appearing. Several months ago I had bottom of the foot pain lasting for at least several months it seemed, although never severe, it did keep me from running. In the past, I had been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, but that was years ago (also from running).

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK 15 днів тому

      Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. Whilst the vast majority of plantar heel pain is on the inside of the heel, there are variants where the pain is felt on the outside of the heel (the lateral band of the plantar fascia) or in the arch itself. With arch pain it’s also common to get small lumps within the arch called ‘plantar fibroma’ which is a sister condition. These are harmless but can be irritable.

    I suffered this many years ago. The pain was violent and painful, although not all the time. But carrying or holding things was really difficult. Simplest example was that it was really difficult to even carry a cup and saucer in one hand. Thankfully I was told to try magnesium oil and it's was a life changer, so much so I am now pain free. Better still, I always wiped xs oil from my hands on my knees and an issue in my knee has also now gone.

    The first time my big toe MTP pain started, was after wearing a new pair of work boots with metatarsal guards… They put pressure on the joint from above, and when the boot material creases, it pushes sharply into the top of the joint. Last 5 days has basically felt like I was walking around on a foot that felt like it had been whacked with a hammer. 🔨 😣

      That sounds like a metatarsalgia caused by repetitive trauma. You probably don’t have arthritis at all.

    I have nodular arthritis in every finger. 3 fingers have fused and the others are on their way. Im 53 and this started 5yrs ago but become much more aggressive in the last 2 yrs. Im a tiler by trade and it's effecting my work. Only my thumb and middle finger work on my right hand. It's extremely painful. I have an appointment with a surgeon next month to see about joint replacements. It's a very depressing condition as you need your hands for everything

      It sounds like you have quite advanced and aggressive nodal OA for your age. I hope the surgeon can help.

    Thank you so much. You just helped me diagnose myself. I'm going to try the ibuprofen gel for sure. So will heat or ice help at all?

    • @PhysioMSK

      Unlikely. But it won’t do any harm so try and see.

    Thank you for all these exercises! I appreciate them, this video was helpful and intertaining as well :). Something that happen to me it's that my pinky finger hides behind my ring finger (the palm side), it's like it wanna go behind when I close my hands. I had tennis elbow before and I don't know if it can have some relation.

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK 12 днів тому

      I can’t see the finger issue being related to tennis elbow but the nerve involved in the condition supplies the interosseus muscles which sit between the ring and little finger and help control their movements. So this is not an unusual situation for cubital tunnel syndrome.

    I think you are the only person who says that the heel pain occurs throughout the day and is worse after sitting for a while. Most ‘experts’ say that the pain occurs first thing in the morning as you step out of bed. I woke up yesterday morning with it 😡. I’ve had it before so I know it’s a long process to get back to normal. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I’ll be checking out your exercise videos.

      Good luck with it. If it doesn’t improve with the orthotic, get an x-Ray and ultrasound scan OR an MRI.

    This condition is so frustrating, and there is so much contradictory information out there about how to heal it. It just won't go away. Completely disrupted my walking/running routine, which is so annoying!!

      I agree entirely. That’s the reason I made this video. No BS. Just the evidence.

    I'm going on two years by summer's end. I tried the walking boot but messed up my knee! I have discovered that a low heel is best for me as it seems to pull less on the heel spur.

      Have you found a way of keeping it off clothes as what I have is quite thick and I just can't rub it in enough. Or perhaps the brand you use is lighter and better absorbed? Many thanks.
